The Passing of the Last Gentleman

We lost a great man this week. President George Herbert Walker Bush made his peace with his God and bid us farewell at the age of 94  (Bush 41) may well be the last Gentleman President.

Indeed. Gentlemen and Ladies are in short supply in all walks of life in the first quarter of the 21st Century.  Gentle people are not born, they are raised in a culture that cares deeply for others and little for self.  They are often people raised in privilege and old wealth; in a culture that inculcates the idea of “from those who have been given much, much is expected”.

They know one of the great secrets of life:  The idea of servant leadership.  If you have not served others you have no right to lead.  Ladies and Gentlemen know that it is unnecessary and rude to trumpet your achievements.  Others will deliver the accolades.

Service over self is the mark of the gentle person.  They receive accolades and glory from those around them, never from braggadocio.  There is an old saying among men.  If you have to talk about it … haven’t got it!

70 years of marriage to the love of his life, 6 children and a multitude of Grandchildren.  What a magnificent life! It has been said that his Presidency was the most consequential and important one term Presidency in history.

This blog is not the forum for politics but rather for matters of the heart and Spirit.  Kudos to this magnificent gentleman. To meet him was to make a friend.    We shall be the less for his passing.

George Herbert Walker Bush is with the angels and I know that God has given him the highest accolade a human can receive.   Well done, good and faithful servant; you shall sit at my right hand.

I can only hope that another like him will bless our nation with his or her grace, character,  goodness and ability.

Let us dedicate ourselves to teaching our young women and men to serve others first, to listen more than speak, to honor others and give to those in need without hesitation.

Let us dedicate ourselves to a kinder, gentler society and renew the thousand points of light that this magnificent man put in our national firmament.

I was born 3 days after the end of WW2. with Cerebral Palsy. I was scheduled for institutionalization but by the age of 3 the power of affirmative prayer, taught to my Mother by Dr. Ernest Holmes, the founder of Religious Science and the Science of Mind had healed me to the point that I was walking and even running. Today I am 95% normal (whatever that is!) and have led a rich and full life to this point. A native Angelino (Los Angeles) I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, attended Cal State Northridge and after graduate work taught in the LA schools for almost 20 years. After teaching I went into non-profit management, working with the Boy Scouts of America, The Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation and the Science of Mind Foundation as a Development Officer. Today I teach Religious Science to people all over the world by the medium of the internet and YouTube. I am a licensed Religious Science Minister and have taught New Thought and metaphysics for over 26 years.
