Religious Science (aka The Science of Mind) explained

I am a Religious Scientist, it is my faith and my understanding of the way life works.  Religious, because it takes me to a higher plane of thought where I can be in the presence of the Great Soul, the Divine Mind, the indwelling God and the most High God which are one and the same.  My faith is based on the deepest belief in a Higher Power and at the same time it is governed not by superstition or magic but by Divine Law.

The Science is in the Law which always works in exactly the same way each and every time we use it.  There is cause and there is effect and neither you nor I can escape that basic Law of the Universe. For every action, there will be an equal and corresponding re-action. Hit a ball into a window, the window will break and you will be called upon to buy your neighbor a new window.

The love you give likewise is returned to you pressed down and multiplied; as are the errors that you commit.

Science in Religious Science is the absolute predictability of the Law, both physical and spiritual.  Drop an iron ball and it will always fall to earth. Not one time will it fly up into the sky.  When you go to bed you need not worry that you will be on the ceiling.  Law is constant and it is knowable and predictable.

Just as physical laws may be depended upon, so are the Spiritual Laws instituted by Spirit.  What you put out you will receive in like measure, pressed down and overflowing.  No one is exempt from what most people call “what goes around, comes around” which we call the Law of Compensation.

We can heal by using the Law, we can prosper by using the Law, we can have success beyond measure or sorrow deeper than the deepest ocean.

As we think, so we are.  Your thoughts are creative, they are alive and they create your world.  You are licensed by God on the day of your birth to create Heaven or Hell in your life.  You speak the cursing or the blessing out of your mouth.  Your choice, each and every day. You will experience what you think, say and do.  You are the architect and author of your life experience.

This is what St. Paul meant when he said “think only things of good report”.

You can heal any condition with the speaking of your word, if you believe.  You can create any condition with your word and your belief.  You have a power that you may have never realized before.

There is a Great Power in the Universe and you can use it.  That is what we teach in Religious Science, which is the teaching of the Science of Mind.

Until we are together again…..be well, think well and speak well.

A Fresh Start, a Time Baptism.

Every year millions try to take advantage of the “fresh start” that time gives us each December 31st.  We start from ZERO, no harm; no foul at least for a few hours.

It’s a little like a “time baptism” in that we are washed clean of the old year and all of its mistakes, harsh words and deeds better left undone.    Time has washed away the cursing out of our mouths and minds during the last year.

We are clean and if we have the wit to use the Law wisely and well, then we need never be washed again.   The Law is what acts on every thought we think, every word we speak and every action we take or fail to take.  The Law is what transforms the spiritual and mental into the physical reality of life.

No one is exempt from the Law of Mind Action.  As you think, speak and do, so you are.  A man named Yeshua Ben Nazareth (Jesus Christ) gave us that sage advice over 2,000 years ago.

What will you do with your mental and spiritual baptism?   Will you keep on keeping on the way you did last year and the year before that. You will get just what you have always gotten.  Nothing changes until YOU DO!

Your parents didn’t do it, your spouse didn’t do it, you friends did not do it.  You thought the thoughts of negativity, hatred or anger.  You spoke the evil and harsh words that cut the souls of those around you like a blade.  You made the choices or neglected the choices that you knew that you should have made.

Make one Resolution for 2018.   Speak and think of things of good report as Paul told us in Corinthians.  Speak a blessing on yourself and everyone in your world each day.   Be the best you that you can be.

Be kind to those who serve you in the restaurant, the Walmart, Target all the working people that you meet.  Those who serve you, serve God with their hard, cheerful and very necessary labor.  We all serve in one way or another.

Never look down or talk down to your spiritual brother or sister.  We are all one in Spirit and One in God.

Make 2018 the year of Oneness and Amends for wrongs done.  Saying “I am sorry” is balm for our spirit and for the heart and soul of the one you wronged.

Yesterday, while working the Self Checkout area of our Super Target, a man stopped me and deeply apologized to me for having been short and unpleasant three days before.   I thanked him, shook his hand and blessed him.  I could see the weight of the wrong he had done to someone in service, lift from his countenance and his heart.  Everyone makes mistakes and misses opportunities for good.  Make amends and wash away the stain on your heart and soul.

Make amends to those in your life that you have wronged and watch your mind and spirit lighten with each word.

Wash yourself in the Baptism of time renewed and have a blessed and wonderful 2018.

Law, the Engine of all Creation

As I promised, this week’s blog is about The Law.  Law is God’s operating system of the Universe.  In fact it is similar to the Bios in your computer.  It is the framework and regulator of all life, just as the Bios enables the operating system of your computer to function and the programs to run.

Indeed, nothing is created without the Law.  This may sound strange to many of you who are an adherents of traditional religions such as Christianity, Islam or Judaism.  These faiths believe in a “parent” God who handles every detail of the Universe and our lives.  Like a parent, the God concept of these faiths rewards good behavior with 77 virgins or lands of “milk and honey” and punishes bad; often with horrible and unimaginable torment.  “As God wills it” you will hear these people say.  Great for avoiding responsibility, isn’t it?

To a Religious Scientist this is a child’s Sunday School tale.  Your parents are your parents, God is your Creator and there is a world of difference.  A parent regulates and monitors the child’s behavior and often continues to do so well into adulthood.  A Creator lovingly provides life and all the tools needed to create the life that is desired by its creation.  Intellect, Imagination and Will are the 3 great gifts of God to all sentient beings.

God does not operate by whim or caprice but rather by Law.  There are physical laws such as gravity, motion, and thermodynamics and spiritual laws such as Mind Action, Compensation, Attraction, Correspondence, and Cause and Effect. These Laws may be studied, explained mathematically, and will always work if operated properly.  This is where the “Science” in Religious Science comes in.

The Universe is not a mystery and neither is the Creator.  Both are predictable, practical and operate by Laws that are knowable to anyone willing to take the time and effort to learn them.

How then does the Law perform its job as the engine of Creation?  The grist for it’s mill is thought, yes thought!  We all have them every second that we live but most of us do not know that these very same thoughts are creative. Thoughts are the building blocks of the Universe and the tools that God uses to Create the Cosmos and that you and I use to create our life experiences.  Thought is the most powerful tool in our life toolbox.  If you will learn to control your thoughts, bend them to your will and use them wisely; you truly will become the “Master of your Fate and the Captain of your Soul”.

Just how does the Law act on thought to create something in material form?  Have you ever seen a locksmith use a wax tablet to create an impression of a key so that a copy may be made?  The wax is inert, it will return whatever image is impressed upon it.  It cares not whether the key is for your bicycle or Fort Knox!  Its job is to create keys from impressions.  In our analogy The Law is the wax tablet and the key is your thought.

It has been said many, many times by sages down through the centuries that thoughts are the keys to life.  Zarathustra, Plato, Jesus of Nazareth, Muhammad, the Buddha all have taught that your thoughts make up your life.

You see, when you think of something with belief and emotion you give it power.  If that thought becomes a vital part of your subconscious mind and your thought atmosphere; your mind, using the Law of Mind Action, will create just what you are thinking whether positive or negative.  Remember The Law is the wax tablet, it works for the saint and the sinner, the pauper and the king.  More next week on how to use the Law in your life.

Here are 4 ideas that you may practice to begin to control your thinking and change your life.

  1. speak and think only of what you want in your life, what you are willing to experience.   Most of us argue for what we don’t want, we speak of what we fear, dread and seek to avoid.  When our thought and word is about our fears, everything we seek to remove from our lives the Law having no volition of its own dutifully creates what you have impressed upon it with your thinking, your fear and your worry.
  2. Watch what you say to yourself.  Our self talk is the prime source of grist for the Law’s creative process.  Speak only of things that you want, desire and fancy.
  3. The law operates in forward and reverse, it is totally impartial which is why bad things happen to good people and vice-versa.  You have a license from God to create heaven or hell in your life and both are created by thought and the Law.
  4. Be very clear on what you wish to change or create in your life.  Remember the wax tablet?  It makes the impression that becomes your reality.  Be sure that you want the key to paradise made rather than the key to a jail cell.  Have a crystal clear mental picture of what you would have in your life and be tenacious in believing that it is already done far before it arrives in material form.

Next week we will talk more about how to become a Master of the Law and create the life you have always wanted.  Until then, be well and happy!
